Zeotap launches Open CDP, a sovereign-by-design customer data platform
A sovereign-by-design launch positions a core data-platform holding for regulated European enterprise demand.
What happened
Zeotap has launched Open CDP, a new way to deploy its composable Customer Data Platform (CDP) that runs entirely on open-source compute over the customer's own lakehouse. Enterprises can run the full platform on open Apache Spark and open Apache Iceberg tables in their own jurisdiction, with no proprietary data warehouse underneath.
The launch extends the composable model Zeotap has built since 2023, which already runs natively on Snowflake, Google BigQuery, and Databricks. Open CDP removes the dependency on any single warehouse vendor and is aimed at organisations in regulated sectors where data residency, cost control, and vendor independence are procurement criteria rather than preferences. Zeotap describes the deployment as sovereign by design: the customer's data never leaves the customer's own infrastructure.
The requirement Open CDP addresses at the application layer is the same one driving demand for sovereign AI compute at the infrastructure layer, where Gorilla Technology Group is deploying capacity in India and Southeast Asia. Zeotap's enterprise clients include Virgin Media O2, Sky, and Ford.
Zeotap is held through Ioniq, the Berlin-based investor in which the Shackleton Secondaries Victoria Fund acquired an interest in 2024.
Why it matters for Gorilla Tech Capital
For Gorilla Tech Capital, a deployment model built around data residency and vendor independence puts a core data-infrastructure holding in step with the sovereignty theme at the centre of the platform's strategy, reinforcing the quality of the assets the Victoria Fund accesses through Ioniq.
