Stewardship
The firm’s position in relation to the UK Stewardship Code.
Under COBS 2.2.3 of the FCA Handbook, a firm managing investments for professional clients must disclose the nature of its commitment to the Financial Reporting Council’s UK Stewardship Code, or, where it does not commit to the Code, its alternative investment strategy.
Gorilla Tech Capital supports the objectives of the Code and takes its stewardship responsibilities seriously. We monitor our investee companies, engage with them where appropriate — often through board representation — and act in the long-term interests of our clients, taking account of good governance and environmental and social factors alongside other investment factors.
As a manager of private, illiquid investments across venture, development-capital, secondary and smart-infrastructure strategies — which do not generally involve quoted equities — and which are not marketed to retail investors, the firm has not formally signed up to the Code. We consider that the stewardship and engagement practices already embedded in our investment approach meet the objectives of the Code, and that formal adoption would result in duplicative reporting given the nature of our business.
